Interest Groups
The Club has a number of activity and interest groups open to all members to suit a wide variety of interests.
Interest Groups
Snooker and Billiards
A snooker and billiards room is adjacent to the bar where there is a full size table. It is readily available for members' use and annual competitions for snooker singles and doubles take place as well as one for billiards. A snooker league is in operation for members to challenge each other in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
Harry Slee's Suppers
This gathering, started around 2001 by, a now deceased Member, Harry Slee, takes place on the second Wednesday of the month. One time when the steward was on holiday, Harry cooked a meal at the club for a couple of friends and it carried on from there. It is an informal evening with a 3 course supper. Members and their guests gather around the table for convivial discussion over the meal on a range of topical issues, religion and politics excepted! Usually around 15 attend so there is an opportunity for everyone to have their say or raise a topic. The discussion stays 'within the four walls' so individuals can feel free to express their views on the topics raised. In spite of the views and feelings expressed, the world outside carries on just the same!
Penny Black
An investment group of Club members meets monthly on the first Thursday in the month to ponder on and adjust its portfolio; with luck or skill, the cost of lunch is usually covered. The next five-year cycle starts in April 2028.
Poets
Members share and discuss their interests in poetry.
External Activities:-
Golf
A number of our members are also members of Prestbury Golf Club, one of the Top 100 UK golf clubs. That gives new arrivals to the area the possibility to play the course as a guest with Old Boys & Park Green Club (OBPGC) members, and each year there is an outing to the Club to play for the attractive OBPGC golf trophy and enjoy a convivial prize-giving dinner afterwards.
Cricket
For many years Club members have enjoyed an annual "Away Day" at Alderley Edge Cricket Club to watch the middle day of a Minor Counties match. This is usually on a Monday and includes morning coffee, a splendid three or four course lunch and afternoon tea, plus some live County-standard cricket in between the gastronomic episodes. The timing varies year to year; a booking form is posted on the Club notice board well in advance.
Walking Group
At least one Club walk is organised each year, usually convening at the Club late morning, before heading by minibus to a High Peak pub for a light lunch. Depending on the lunch intake and duration, the return may follow a variety of walking routes, with the end objective of a reviving evening meal at the Club. It's downhill all the way, at least until the 108 Steps!
Bus Pass Lunches

Around 2006, four Club members who were eligible for free bus passes formed the Group (hence the name). Members travel to pubs and restaurants about every couple of months to enjoy lunch together in a different environment and they don't have to drive!
